An alternative college-admissions essay

New York Times’ reporter Tamar Lewin’s latest piece features a potential future rite-of-passage for prospective college students: a video-essay supplement to college applications. About 1,000 of the 15,000 applicants for the Tufts’ class of 2014 have submitted video essays, Lewin said.
To get a taste of the students’ handiwork, you might enjoy “Math Dances” and “In My Shoes” (below). These videos resemble the digital stories many UR students have already made.
